Hampton Steps up Big!

Shamela Hampton had 17 points & 9 boards to lead Lucca to a 65-61 win over Nicole Ohlde and Umbertide. The win brings Lucca into a tie with Umbertide for 3rd place. Ohlde finished the game with 8 points & 7 boards.

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Umbertide (9-4) against fifth ranked Lucca (9-4) on  Sunday night. Visiting Umbertide was defeated by Lucca in a tough game in Lucca 61-65. The hosts were ahead by 12 points but lost the second period ending it with a 7-point deficit before their 24-13 run, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Courtney Willis (188-82, college: E.Carolina, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Her fellow American import center Shamela Hampton (191-87, college: UNLV) contributed with 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Spanish point guard Nuria Martinez (176-84) answered with 14 points and American power forward Nicole Ohlde (193-82, college: Kansas St.) added 8 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Umbertide. Lucca moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Umbertide. Lucca will play against league’s leader Taranto on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Umbertide will play against Pall.Pozzuoli and hopes to get back on the winning track.
